At the beginning of the year, I had made two new years resolutions for myself.
One was to start up a lifestyle blog. Check. ✔️ The other was to complete five half marathons within the year in prep for a full marathon in 2016. This was also done. Well, technically!
I ended up attending four half marathons plus a metric marathon (it is a 26km run, which equals to 16 miles) so if anything, I have done more than, but I still included this as one of my halfs.
In doing this personal challenge, I have raised over £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support, I have also lost a stone and I have gained a true love with running.
I believe this will now become my yearly routine. To set out an extreme challenge at the beginning of the year, in hope that I will complete it. What a great way to better yourself?
My question now is, What would you like to change? What would you like to complete? What do you see yourself doing within the next year or two?
I believe as humans we should always strive for bigger and better. Even facing a challenge that may seem unrealistic is a great way to achieve the best for yourself. My mantra always being:
“Aim high… Or even better. Aim higher.”
Sometimes you don’t understand how far your body and mind can take you. Always set the barrier higher than you would expect to reach, because we are capable of pretty much anything once we put our minds to it.
“If I really want this, I could have it.”
I have proved this to myself. If any of you would had told me a year ago that I would have run a half marathon (13 miles) within a sub two hour time, then I would have laughed in your face.
It has taken me a year to achieve this goal, and I could not be prouder. Because I earned it.
So take a second away from the world and think about some of your own personal challenges. Think about the things you would like to do, regardless of whether you think you are able to.
Set your mind to it, and GO. Only you can make this happen, or forever it will be only but a dream.
So what’s it going to be?
